Free Remote Desktop App?

I'm an ex-Dell x51v PDA user who really misses using Windows Remote Desktop from his hand held device. I just dumped my Blackberry Storm for the Droid 3, and I haven't locked it up yet!! But I'm looking for a remote desktop app other than paying for PhoneMyPC, which is still in beta, but looks nice. Any help out there?

Its still in beta? I've been using it since the d1 was new...

That said, one of the stock apps, zumo cast, is about the best you can get without being a full blown remote desktop. You can stream any file, even videos. And documents work as well, so much better than dropbox.

Team viewer is pretty nice, works on all platforms and is one of the best remote desktops of seen.

I certainly appreciate the quick replies. ZumoCast is not quite what I'm looking for, I want to be able to use the full functionality of my home computer from the 'Droid. Team Viewer also sounds good, but I'm trying to figure out if I have to pay for the darned thing or not...anyways, thanks for the replies!!

Teamviewer is free for personal use (you can't use it in a business like IT work).

The one I use almost constantly is Remote RDP Lite by Yongtao Wang. Only downfall is that I can only have one server saved at once, but since I memorized all my server IP's or have linked them through namespaces it doesn't really matter to me.

I have been happy with pocketcloud - both VNC and RDP.

Installed and using Teamviewer and its working very well. Minor problem with punctuation and scrolling screens, but figure I'll get the hang of it. Only hiccup came because I have a wireless network, and with wireless enabled on the phone, it kept disconnecting as it switched back and forth between 3G and WiFi. Disabled WiFi and no more disconnects. Thanks for the info!!

Both technogeek00 and John.Edwards have got it, Remote RDP and PocketCloud are your best bets. I used a Beta version of PocketCloud and found the bubbly UI unnecessary. I've kept Remote RDP and haven't tried the production version of PocketCloud, so keep that in mind.

I suggest you try both, especially if you need to use encryption as only the pay version of both include it. Also, the pay version of PocketCloud support VNC, encrypted VNC, and VMWare remote view (IIRC is based on VNC); Remote RDP doesn't have this capability and has a separate program called Remote VNC, but doesn't have encryption capabilities as of this writing. If it was me and WYSE got rid of the bubbly interface in the Beta and made it easy to use, I'd go with PocketCloud since it offers a lot more features at a more competitive price.

Thanks for the info Fuzzball, I'll keep those in mind. Teamviewer so far is doing exactly what I want it to do, and seems to be quite fast, which surprised me. Anyways, thanks for the replies, all the info really helps.

Another option for remote access to Windows apps from Andoid devices is Ericom AccessToGo, a free RDP client for Android, iPad and iPhone devices. If you also want to speed up RDP, you can use AccessToGo with Ericom's Blaze server (a commercial, not free product). That makes AccessToGo the fastest RDP client for mobile devices for working with graphic applications over a remote connection.
