Formart sd card?

I recently heard that formating the sd card on the droid 2 improves the performance of the droid. Is it? Would it be worth it? Also, is it difficult to format?

Formatting the card optimizes it for the device using it and also clears out junk files as well as any and all information from the card. It is quite easy to do from the phone but remember to back up all data as it will be erased. I do it very often on my cameras as I'm a photographer bit you should really only have to do it once on your phones sd card.
