Fingerprint still asking for pin

Unlocking the phone with my fingerprint but I still have to enter the pin. I tried turning the pin off but I erased the fingerprint set up completely.
I tried setting it up again and it still asks for the pin.

Is there a way to only use the fingerprint to open the phone?

Mine only ask for the pin if your reboot the phone. After that I can use the pin or the fingerprint to open it up. Should not be asking for pin after fingerprint.

my phone only asks for the pin twice, when you turn it on and when you turn if off.

for clarification, is this happening every time you use the phone after the screen shuts down.

Thanks for the replies.
I restarted the phone and then powered it off. Seems to have fixed it. Now the fingerprint is only being asked for.

I know my phone does. it also thinks its smarter than me It might be right.

It's supposed to do it randomly, basically requiring 2 forms of security. But if it keeps happening rebooting it fixes that.
