Just as we shared previously, Adobe is no longer going to be developing Flash player for mobile devices anymore. Today, they released the final official version, 11.1.102.59, for Android. From now on, the most we will see is an occasional bug fix mini-update. This new version brings the usual bug fixes and performance enhancements. It also will fix an issue with video playback for the Samsung Galaxy S II, and it enables 1080p video for future Nvidia Tegra 3 devices.

It remains to be seen whether new Androids will have Flash for the browser. Adobe has shifted the cost of development to phone manufacturers by offering them a source code license.

Flash videos, games, apps, etc. won't disappear from the Internet overnight so consumers will still want their phones to be able to handle it. We'll see which manufacturers, if any, continue to offer Flash.

It will be interesting to see where this will lead to. Usually when a vacuum occurs something rushes in to fill the void. It just remains to be seen if this is a good thing or not. One thing is for sure when it involves tech it is always interesting and more often then not controversial!
