Filtering adult apps from market

I have a quick question. Is there a way to filter the apps in the market?? I.E. parental controls?? My kids like to check the market once in awhile, and I get really annoyed when they come across free porn vids, boob pics and what not. IMO the market needs more filtering options than just Top Paid, Top Free, and Just In. I think I flag apps that are inappropriate every time I get on the market. But yet, they show right back up.

This is something that bothers me about the market as well, and it seems like reporting the devs via the flag as inappropriate link doesn't work at all. The most bothersome thing i've noticed is that there is no control over where an "app" is placed, and most of these sexual apps are in the "All Games" section. And some of the screenshots show full frontal nudity.

Of course, i'm also getting tired of the crappy J2ME ports of dumbphone games by:

free4android
me4android

and crap like that.

I really think, much as I hate to admit it; that Google needs an app approval process. I know it sounds way too Apple-like, but they need to have some control over the market. It's getting to the point where I don't like looking for new apps because it's so hard to find anything decent without already knowing about it.

agree - would love to put a block on those developers and a few others. I also agree about the categories - sex is an action sport but not when I'm in the market looking for arcade/action and come up with tons of puzzles, etc.

Regards.... Steve

Apparently what you search for is irrelevant. It comes up in several searches, things you might not even think about.

We had a pretty large thread on this just the other day. it's controversial, where do you draw the line on what you can send in for an app in an open market and who is suppose to filter it….or should they?

That would require either a new category that is adult only, or a rating system like movies, or for Google to approve apps, which, i am pretty sure people do not want.

if we wanted that, we would all have iphones.

There's free porn in the market eh?

But in seriousness, I do think the market is a bit of a clusterf**k at this point. I do think some more organization, various filters, some supervision of some kind would be a plus. Not Apple-like regulation, but just something.

They could be wrong but one of the Verizon reps told me that they can add parental controls to the line and that would fix it but I am not sure if that really will. Give them a call...it may be worth a shot. But I think it's $5 per month.

Hey...if someone could come up with an app for this that constantly runs in the background and needs a password to turn off or modify then that would be sweet. Not even sure if that's possible.

I have Direct TV at home and I can go on the device and block stuff from my own device and then on my computer I can use a free program like K-9 to block stuff on there. I ain't sayin' block the market but I am sayin I should be able to block it at the device...that won't affect anyone else.

if you restrict something that will entice them to start restricting more and more things aka the new apple

He's asking for a filter for his phone with parental controls.

I don't care for porn, but if someone wants to watch it go for it.What I do wish they would do is have a category for it so it's not so clustered up in the other categories.
