Family Name

Under contacts, when you add or edit a contact, it has a option for Family Name. What is this? What is it used for?

I questioned this as well, I assume its fir the last name of a person.

last name. i know it's not clear. hit the down arrow for an expansion of all possibilities.

Since your first name is your "Given" name, your last name is your "Family" name.
