facebook sync deleted my contacts

I downloaded the facebook app and synced the contacts but wheb I did that all my original contacts were merged with the new list and I lost all the numbers that weren't in the individuals facebook info. I un-synced the facebook contacts and now all of my contacts are gone except those in my favorites.

Ok so I got my facebook contacts back but a lot of my numbers are still missing and are not in my gmail contacts list either. How do I get my original numbers back?

Go into your contact settings and make sure all your contact groups are visible. The other contacts didn't disappear (per se), they are probably just hidden.

I am having the same problem but gmail sync overwrite my original contacts for the synced ones. Terrible feature, why would it not keep the originals.
