Facebook contacts, missing??

I received a replacement device, an previously all of my facebook friends showed up in my contact list. After installing the facebook app an also using the predesigned facebook app included under social networking all of my contacts have disappeared, or better yet never synced with my phone does anyone know what I need to do so they re-appear, any advice would help. Thanks!
