external notifications wont mute when headphones are plugged in

So when my headphones are plugged in and I receive a call or any other notification, sounds get played through the external speaker as well as the headphones. :icon_eek:

I thought it might be a hardware issue but if i play music it only plays through the headphones.

Anyone else out there have this issue?

mine has always done this. i have to put my phone on silent to stop the external sounds. i don't know if this is normal or not tho lol

Well I'm on droid #3 ( #1 vibration stopped working, #2 screen got all glitchy) and the previous two would mute external sounds.

I love my phone but all these issues are really starting to make me think twice about it.
