Export Contacts and Mail from AOL

I've searched the threads for an answer to my concern but have not been able to find a clear explanation. Can someone please list a step by step explanation for the EASIEST WAY to export my contacts and all my emails from my existing AOL mail account to my newly established G-mail account. I'd like to notify all my contacts of the mail provider change as well because in about a week, I will ditch the AOL account. I have found some help on the Web, but many of those explanations are unclear for a newbie to the smartphone world. Thanks for the help!

G Mail made it simple

No need for members to reply to my thread. Once I set up the G Mail account, it automatically, upon my request exported my contacts from aol. Thanks anyway for looking anyways !!!:greendroid:
