Wife was complaining my voice sounded muffled and low. After much digging on the various forums found this hack which does work. Wife says much improved.
In the dialer punch in ##7764726
step 2: enter six zeros for password (000000)
step 3: select 06 test mode
at bottom of screen press next twice
at top of screen change from EVRC to EVRC-B
change will be applied upon exit to home. make a test call where you can play back your recorded voice. you should notice some improvement. To further verify go back to previous EVRC setting and make another test call. Reset to EVRC-B and you should be good to go.
