Email on phone and hotmail not syncing together

Ok so im not very tech savy. i try to look on this furom to learn but alot of the talk is over my head...haha but my problem is, I get my email and read it on my phone so i rearly log on to my acual accounct (over a computer) to check it but when i do there are like 30 to 40 messages that say they arent read because my phone and email are not syncing any help would be greatly appricated.....sorry if this is a dumb question i have done searches but i cant find an answer or im over looking it... thanks
