Email Notification help

this is my first android device and I am having some trouble. For whatever reason my phone doesnt make any noise when an email is received. I checked my settings and it says it should beep when I get emails.

MY sound notifications work fine when receiving a text or instant message but do nothing when a new email comes in.

can someone please help me with this. Right now the only way to know if a new email has arrived is to look for the green led light.

If you're using the mail app go to menu - more - settings - notification settings.

I am not using the GMail app. I currently have a yahoo and 2 pop accounts setup and use the "mail" icon on my homescreen to access the emails

How do I change my default email app from the Universal Inbox to the Gmail app?

Nevermind. Fixed it. Had to clear the default from "email"
