As it is right now, if my phone is unlocked anyone can read my e-mail. Is there an app or setting that I can install that will require me to enter a password to access my e-mail?

Thanks!

You can set up a pattern lock to keep anyone e from accessing your Droid.

It's not that I don't want anyone accessing my Droid, I don't want them to be able to access my e-mail.

Say someone has never seen a Droid and wants to look at it. I'll gladly unlock it and let them check it out...I just don't want them reading my e-mail while they play.

Well, you have an Eris and I have a Moto so I can't say for certain with your phone but it can't be done with mine.

Connect your phone to an email you don't use then when you want to check your email use the browser and log in to the one you want to check. Just make sure to log out afterwards.
If that doesn't work (havnent tested that) forward your email to something other then gmail and just make sure to log out when your done.

Quit flirting with women that aren't your wife.

Seriously, this is a good question and would be nice to have.

webmail on a smartphone ??

Using a browser on a droid to check email seems like a step backwards.

I would have assumed OP is using Mail / Gmail app for his Eris email.
