Duplicate Contacts

When I text message or use NubDial all my contacts phone numbers are doubled. How can I fix it?

Probably has something to do with Facebook bringing them in. If so, you should be able to go into your Facebook app and then settings. Under sync contacts tell it don't sync. I think this could fix your problem.

I like the way I get the Facebook pictures on incoming calls and texts. If there is a way to get rid of the duplicates but keep the pictures, I would love to know.

But, it's not just my contacts that are on my facebook friends list, it all phone numbers. Not the contacts themselves, but the phone numbers.

I've got the same thing going and I don't even have any facebook numbers. Its been like that since 2.1, except mine are tripled

I had duplicate contacts as well, but that was due to the fact that VZW store transferred my contacts from my old phone (set #1) and then I had my gmail contacts (set #2). Don't know if that is why you have two as well. If so I just merged them together on my gmail account.

I tried that, but it didnt work. For example, if I send a text message, select a contact then I get another pop-up to select a phone number and both numbers it shows are the same. If I go into my contacts I dont see anything duplicated.

Worked for me


To find and merge all of your duplicate contacts at once, use the following instructions:

Open the Contact Manager.
Click the Find duplicates button in the right-side panel.
We'll display the duplicates we've found. You can expand them by clicking the details link next to each one and uncheck any that you don't want to merge.
When you're ready, click Merge at the top of the list.

Hmmm.. My problem is every time I add a phone number to my phone it is creating triple numbers. One to my phone, another to my gmail account and I have another gmail account which is also creating another number there... Total of 3 contacts for just 1 mobile number. Grrr.. Aggravating!
