Hello.

I want to upgrade my DroidX to a Sansung GS3 so that I can get 4g.

I do NOT want to lose my unliminted plan.

I have a buddy that has a GS 3 and he will upgrade to a Note2.

How do I do this because I do not have a "chip" in my DroidX. I just activated or reset it by putting in my phone number.

Can I just go to a verizon store and request a chip?

Yes, take the GS3 to the Verizon store for new 4g Sim card. Since the phone was customer provided unlimited stays intact. Make sure to confirm throughout the process.

non-verizon gs3?

will verizon allow this even if it's not a specific verizon phone of if his friend didnt have a verizon account? I am thinking of buying an unlocked GS3 from Amazon and I was under the impression that verizon would not let it on their network. Dont want to lose my unlimited plan...

Verizon will only work on Verizon specified phones. Unlocked is more of a gsm thing while Verizon and sprint are forms of CDMA.
