Droid4 + car bluetooth + control music from headunit?

Is anyone able to use their headunit's control (> or >>) to play their phone's music?

I have tried "my music" but I have to use my phone to control the music.

Is there a way for it to automatically happen after it auto pairs? Do I need a new music player?
