My phone updated by itself today. After the update my Handcent SMS won't open, all the pictures disappeared from my gallery, if I try to download something from the market, the download stops on "Starting Download", and if I try to call someone nothing happens. Any ideas??

My phone is now restarting by itself every 10 minutes or so.

On Verizon? Try activating.

Dial *228 then enter 1 at the voice prompt. You'll hear music and see a progress bar, then the voice will say, "your phone has been activated, goodbye."

Wait 15 minutes, dial *228 again, but enter 2 to update roaming & follow the same process.

Yeah on Verizon. I tried the *228 and my phone didn't even go to the calling screen, it just stayed on the dialer.

Sounds like a bad update to me. In which case, you'll need to do a factory reset but it should clear up all of your issues. Don't understand the SD problems though...probably the gallery app not running correctly. I'd remove the card before resetting, just to be safe.

I tried the factory reset, and I click the Erase Everything button and nothing happens.

Did you follow these instructions?

1. Turn the phone off.

2. Hold the Power and Home buttons down for about 5 seconds.

3. A screen with an exclamation will appear. Tap the Search key.

4. Scroll down to factory reset using the Volume Down button.

5. Confirm the selection.

6. Select Yes — delete all user data then tap OK.

The Droid X will then complete the hard reset.
