Droid X Customizing - HELP!!!

Hey guys, I'm really new to rooting and everything like that..I rooted my Droid X yesterday using Z4Root and have only installed Droid Overclock. So I'm having an issue with my battery running out pretty fast even when its fully charged. I'm keeping my droid around 700Mhz max, and 400 min on Low Voltage..but it still drains within a couple of hours, even with just texting and music. If anyone could help, I would very much appreciate it.

There could be a lot of reasons for this so I'll give you the usual suspects.

Bum battery - it seems unlikely but manufacturers make mistakes. Your battery could be a crap battery.

Background data - many applications such as facebook and email apps church for updates at specified intervals. You can change these so that they are not do often to save battery life..

Screen brightness - with a brighter screen you take up more power.

Lack of service - if you are in an area with bad service than your phone will try even harder to get a signal.

Bad app - some apps are buggy and for whatever reason hog up the cpu or they could be malicious in nature and are doing the same thing while something else that is evil.

There are several other reasons that might be causing your battery to lose power but they don't come to mind right mlle. I hope this helps :)

If you have the screen at full brightness that'll kill it, having GPS/Bluetooth/wifi on, having email/social sites syncing often, streaming music online, heavy web browsing, a lot of widgets. Too many issues to make.

All the above that Droid-Xer suggest are major culprits. To add a couple, remove any

Anti Virus or Advanced Taskillers. Now I'm a huge believer in Over/Underclocking is not

needed. I get excellent battery just from freezing bloatware, unused apps and with the

ROM I'm running.

i can personally say watch them apps.

my wife installed an app off the market and it was killing her battery from 100% in 2hours

How do you remove bloatware?

Check out the top thread on this page. I bought Titanium Backup and froze it.

Battery: I'm buying an extended battery tomorrow to see if there's and difference

Bg data: I have droidwall blocking most apps from using 3g

Brightness: set screen to lowest setting of brightness as soon as iI bought it

Service: where I live i always have 3 or 4 bars

The culprit as of right now seems to most likely be haywire apps. I downloaded a huge .apk pack from piratebay and copied them all over to my phone...I'm gonna unroot, factory reset phone, delete all the apks from my sdcard and then reroot an see how things last from there on out. All I really use my phone for is watching movies, Facebook, texting, and music...the occasional angry birds but thats all..if anyone could tell me if I'm doing something wrong that would be muchly appreciated (:
