Droid incredible is erasing old text messages

This has happened twice now that my phone has deleted all text messages. It does not seem to matter if it is set to erase them or not as it happened when the phone was not set to erase old messages and when it was, but with the max amount of messages at 1000 (which I was not even close to). I don't want to back them up with another program, I just don't want them randomly deleted.

That happened to me 4 times already & at completely random times! I've called Verizon & all they did was instruct me to do a hard reset & even after that it still erased everything. They said if it happens again they'll replace it... so I'm waiting.

Honestly the only way to save your texts is to back it up with another program. I use "text bank" from the market place. It's free & it auto updates so you don't really even notice it. When I get my newer Incredible I'm still going to back it up with that app to be safe.
