Thanks!
It seems that Mr. Yann in france is having his second mic work too well, and it's canceling parts out of his voice as well as background noise. If the mic on our droids is indeed working and active, we should be able to tell by placing a finger over that slot and seeing if the other person notices a difference. If i had any friends to call i'd try it, but i'm on the Droid forums on a saturday evening....:icon_ cry:

I think this is why I was having an issue with my speakerphone while using my shell/holster case. When I have it on, the caller on the other end hears an echo of their voice. As soon as I take the case off, they no longer hear an echo. I think I may have to Dremel my case!
have done several tests on the call quality of my motorola milestone after my friends
finding it difficult to hear me at several points during my calls
all tests done by calling my own number leaving a voicemail message then listening
back to it
test 1
spoke with phone to my ear - listening back could hear well with the occasional small
dip
spoke with the phone 15cm from my mouth - listening back i could hear hardly anything
test 2
put a small piece of bluetack over what is reportedly the ambient noise mic
spoke with phone to ear - listening back actually seemed clearer
spoke with phone 15cm from mouth - listening back almost silent on the line
spoke with the phone facing away from me - silence
test 3
put into speaker mode and spoke with phone............
15cm from mouth clear as a bell
to my ear clear as a bell
facing away from me again clear
conclusion ambient noise mic kicks in on standard call (non speaker) mode and
interfears with call quality a bit too much, sometimes i like to hold the phone a little
away from my face but if i do that with this the person on the other end isnt going to
hear me!!
because the bottom is part of the main chassis. ive had my droid apart already, all that's good for is disassembly, there is nothing underneath it. that rubber bumper is just a sticker
How odd! I find it difficult to believe that they would install something that's useful, and advantageous - and then keep quiet about it.You'd think they'd at least *mention* it in adds.
