Droid Ham Radio Operators?

Hi.. My call is KB8HEA. I have used phonemypc on my Droid to control my Kenwood TS440S with HamRadioDeluxe and control my antenna rotor.
On Fri nights at 9:00 EST on 28.450mhz our local club hosts the Johnny Appleseed net. Check out our clubs website at www.w8cca.org

Would be cool if a Droid app would be able to control our rigs. I've used VNC in the past and controlled my TS 450 and HRD/DM780 for digital PSK work, and I also one day had it set on 40 meters and worked some DX - no wonder why my business went under :)

I am also a ham, KC9FSH.

I've been licensed since 2004 and am mostly active on 2m. When I do turn on the HF rig it's mostly operating PSK31, RTTY or Hellscreiber although I have been getting more into voice lately.

Just curious if I'm the only ham radio operator who is also a Droid owner. I've been licensed since 1983.

I am a droid owner and ham NB2A licensed since 1978
I also ride with a Yaesu FTM10R on my Yamaha 1100 Classic

Yahoo group LEARC for more info
Hopefully since iphone is now echolink the droid will follow soon
Maybe a Yahoo group for droid hams will be next for me to start:icon_ banana:

Hey all, nice to see hams here! I'm W7RCG, I've been licensed since 1987. Was very active on HF, DX'ing, mostly cw, contesting too. Since the move here in '96 have not put up a tower or any HF stuff. I still have it all. Now that I'm retired maybe I will if I can stop playing with this friggin phone!

Hello all, N3YUG here. I haven't been very active in the last 5 years, but maybe again soon. I would think a Logger program would be nice for mobile operators.

Late comer here but someone else may land here via Google....hi.

Licensed since 1966, had various calls, now N9IJ and new Droid X owner. Glad to be rid of the WinMo phone. Echolink for Droid is now out there. I also use HamSat and a few others. This thing really excites me!

I'm no longer a ham, but had my no-code tech between 1993 - 2003; never persued anything beyond working the local repeaters and became tired of them when the local newbs decided to start monopolizing the repeaters and treating them like their own personal CB radio network. Got tired of the foul language, inane conversations, and the FCC not doing anything about it.

Since i've gotten my DROID, however, i've always thought that they should make a bluetooth-connected packet radio system for it. It would make a cool mobile packet radio terminal.

Reading this thread makes me want to relicense myself.

Harry, thanks for the info. I just installed the two apps. I'd love to find a way to watch the DX Cluster/Spider from my Droid, do you know of anything out there, or if someone is developing a DX Cluster widget?
There was a question about a DX Cluster app earlier in this forum. I developed DX Cluster for Android and it is available on Market. It shows live spots which can be filtered by bands and modes. I also included alarms for prefixes and call signs.
Just search for DX Cluster on Android Market.
For those who have no access to Market DX Cluster is also available on Androidpit.com
