Droid App to Control Ceiling Fans & Lights??

I just updated my thermostat for the heating and cooling in my house. It is controlled via the on the wall thermostat... or from a website... and best of all from my Droid RAZR MAXX phone. I fell as though I have emerged from the dark ages!

I understand that new devices would need to be purchased. However, is there a product that will perform is a similar way for ceiling fans and lights?

There are simple replacement wall switches and outlets which run on Wi-Fi. Wemo is just one of many. They have their own app on the play store.

Google home automation wifi android and see lots of results.
