droid 4 camera will not open

My phone is not rooted. I just started experiencing issue where camera will not open. Upon trying to open, I either get a momentarily black screen before it goes back to main screen or it won't open at all.

Seriously, no input out there? I know from a google search this is an issue. My question is what is the problem, hardware of software. And then if the problem can be resolved without a f-actory-ing reset

Anyone else experiencing camera issues should know there was no permanent fix for this. It did require a phone replacement. I always think the insurance is a great plan feature to add

I had to get a new phone to fix my front facing camera. Bad luck
