Droid 3 / XT860 in Canada work in the US

I have a brandnew Motorola Droid 3 (known as the XT860 on Bell Canada, has not yet been activiated)
I was wondering if this would work in the US.

I have received it as a Participation gift and have no interest in keeping it.
If I unlock it or sell it as is to be unlocked would it work on a US carrier ?

What is the difference between this phone (XT860) and the Droid 3 on Verison and the XT862 ?

It will work anywhere in the world. No 3G on T-Mobile USA and Canadian new entrants due to lack of AWS band. Unlocking it not a problem. Any online unlocker will do.
