just wipe

Congrats LT, your one of the first on the forum to actually pick one up :)

Just picked up one for my wife for her birthday. Charging now. Very nice feel to the phone, and the keyboard is a definite improvement.

Thanks! I was there at 8 when they opened and was 5th in line. Four of the others were looking for the D2 as well. Unfortunately I can't play with it yet. I want my wife to go through the sign in process and set up so she knows what she's doing with it. It's very tempting to use it though.

Dude just sign in then wipe it when your done same wipe method as Droid 1

@mj1052 - I am thinking seriously about returning my Droid X for the Droid 2, also. As a former DX owner, you'll know just what I am asking:
On the D2, can you delete the contact history (texts and calls)? Not text threads or call logs, but the history associated with a contact? In the DROID X you cannot and I have been waiting to see if this was corrected on the DROID 2.

That privacy issue, along with the huge size, problems adapting to an all virtual keyboard, and some other phone issues are leading me toward the path of giving up my DX. But if the D2 has the same privacy issue, I wouldn't choose it.

I would appreciate your insight. Thanks.

SO far I've been able to delete every text from everyone that I've texted with ...with no sign of previous convo. anywhere..both in the text 'widget' and in the text/msgs 'folder' ...forgive me if I'm not understanding the question..I'm brand spankin' new to Android...but again, it allows me to delete conversations, messages, etc..with no sign of previous messages within the contact or anywhere else..unless there is somewhere specifically they are stored that I don't know about

Hi CheathamHill. It's not the text 'widget' or the text/msgs 'folder' that is the problem on the Droid X. You CAN delete that content. But, with the Droid X, even when you delete that info in those places or clear your call logs, the phone is currently configured to hold on to that information in the history associated with that contact.

When you open a contact and scroll to the screen that is to the left (which means swiping your finger toward the right), you will see a history of your contact with that person. Currently, on DROID X there is no option available to delete that information.

I got my DROID X 2 weeks ago before knowing this (there have been a lot of complaints now) and it is my first jump into the Android world, but this is a major privacy issue that is not acceptable to me. So...I am wondering if the Droid 2 has the same problem. If not, it might be a good alternative for me.

Thanks for the cool tip..never knew that existed...there's things hidden al over this bad boy...I pressed the menu key once in the history page and sure enough it gives the option to erase history with that contact...
which I did with a few separate ones just to try it out..and it does do that completely..so the D2 may be better for you until a fix comes out for the X...but again, what do I know ;) haha

Hope that helps though

I'm in the same boat as you...I've been a loyal BB user for the past two and a half years, but I have been following the Android OS for 1 year. I got my D2 activated today and I'm constantly trying to figure things out. I can't wait until I'm a veteran Droid user.

First thing I did when opening the browser? Porn...and yes, it works.

Got Mine Yesterday

I preordered mine from Verizon, got it yesterday and only paid $99 (with two year activation) but I've been a Verizon customer for years so no problem there. I am coming from a BB8330 (which I loved) so this was a leap of faith! So far, I am impressed. Still learning.
