Droid 2 Global At&t Compatibility Soon?

I'm currently looking to replace a Samsung product (to embarrassing to admit which one) as I step into this decade. I have spent hours shopping and have settled on the Droid 2 Global only to find out that Verizon has a lock on it preventing At&t users from using it. Is there an updated unlock to enable D2G on AT&T network that I am not finding? I'm in contract with AT&T until 12/11 but don't want to be stuck with a phone that only works on GSM networks. I'm looking into finding also the same thing a Radio Mod, hack, or a rom that will allow
this to happen. I got mine unlocked But this doesn't help any as no Reception from the
AT&T towers. Verizon blocked these frequencies to prevent us from switching carriers.
Even though this is a messed up situation, there nothing I have found so far that works. Let me know if you find anything or if anyone finds something. Thanks: Jake
