So after updating to 2.2 the icons on my desktop can take 3-6 seconds to show up when I switch apps (most of the time) ... and my gallery seems similarly bugged. From what I have seen this is a known issue *suppresses rant*.

I just want it to work and was fine with how it was before I updated. Am I able to do this myself? Thanks.

Yes you can. You'll have to root to do it, however, and after you've rooted you can do all sorts of things to fix the redraw issue without HAVING to go back to 2.1 and losing out on all the nice things that 2.2 offers.
