Driving screen

I am looking to create a screen that is similar in function to the car mode but more on tune with how I will use it. I want easy access to a few important contacts, a radio app, my music and navigation. has anyone else done such a thing?

Try Dock Awake and set it to launch an app that can display the items you wish when you put your Droid in your car dock. You can set any app you want to appear automatically when you dock. It has many other features that justify its dollar or two cost, I forget. I like that I can automatically turn on speakerphone, for example. Or it can turn on bluetooth if I have it off.

Not sure what to suggest for an app that can show you just those things, though. I guess you could let it show you the normal home screen, but if you're not rooted that's going to display sideways. Maybe look into some type of alternate launcher apps.
