driver problems - trying to root via super user guide that is stickied

i have ran through the instructions on 2 computers, a win 7 - 64bit and a win xp 32bit. i can get adb to list the phone but after i do the reboot bootloader, it tries to install another driver that it doesn't find "android 1.0". if i cancel it, the phone doesn't show in the list. on my win xp unit, i choose to install automatically - it said it installed correctly and ready to use, still wasn't listed.

any help would be appreciated! just got it today and i can't get it rooted.

I didnt use that guide to root my gnex, but usually if you install drivers rebooting your computer helps. That process lists wug's toolkit. Wug has some trouble shooting solutions about drivers in his link in that sticky.

CJM - thanks for the reply, it was wierd when i did the reboot bootloader i could hear the notifications on my pc that it connected. I proceeded to unlock the bootloader, went fine. I ended up rooting using the superboot method, went smooth. Then flashed cwm and everything went well....
