Download video to flashdrive???

I'm going to be on a vacation trip and want to take many pics and videos. I won't have a laptop with me so as the SD card fills up, I'm wondering if there is any possible way to DIRECTLY download the video and pics from the SD card to a flashdrive?

Also, anyone have any idea just how many pics and videos can be held on the SD card (16 GB).

On my iPod it takes from just under 1 gig to about 1.5 gig...depends on the length of the movie
