Wondering if anybody knows about any apps/registry (I know its a windows term) that can/will speed up downloads by optimising MTU/Packets etc...?

If you are wondering on how to speed up broadband and how to detect the best MTU for it, click on Start, type Command Prompt into the search box, and hit Enter. Then, type ping -f -l 1472 and hit Enter again. Lower 1472 by 10 and re-enter the line if you receive a message that says Packet needs to be fragmented. Repeat this step by lowering your existing MTU value by 10 and using the ping command once more. Continue until you no longer receive such message. This is now your best MTU value. With regard to the tool, however, perhaps you can try PC Tools Performance Toolkit 2011.
