Double, triple, quadruple texts

Droid 1 on verizon I frequently get repeat texts. Sometimes they all come in at the same time, or they can be delayed. It's really annoying. Is it a verizon thing? I'm using handcent, but I'm almost 100% positive it was also happening with the stock messaging app.

it's a verizon thing, sometimes i get double texts and then i let whoever sent it know, they said they only hit it once.
