Done with Gingerbread... Need help!

I need help with pointing me in the direction of a ROM.I have a Droid X. I had my phone rooted before gingerbread, and now need help on what to do next. I currently have the stock OTA Gingerbread and am ready to kill it. So, do I put the rooted version of Gingerbread on my phone, or move on to ROMs. If so, what is the most ideal ROM to use? I have read about people not having their Gmail syncing with certain ROMs and Backup Assistant not being available on others. Those are 2 things I am looking for as well as my phone not shutting off randomly 2-3 times a day and battery draining like it has a leak. Help me out please!!!

back when I had my OG droid I rooted and flashed CyanogenMod ROM onto it. IT was great, it was the most similar to vanilla android, but still had some nice features not found on vanilla android.

I used ROM Manager to get it, easiest way imo
