Reading about the Nexus1 and owning a Droid I was thinking about the way google is going about things. They are obviosly making a phone for everyone. Droid is for techies, Eris a more everybody phone. Now the Nexus1 seems to be a smartphone for the masses on gsm. The approach is to not take on the iphone with one model but if you have a great OS, which android certainly is, you can attack on all fronts. Google will no doubt topple the iphone due to the diverse nature of the onslaught. When the day comes that there is one madel on ATT and Verizon, google has won.

as long as they all (hopefully) have the same support and updates pushed out to run the same great OS all together

Google cannot fully implement SkyNet without Android running on at least 60% of all cell phones in the world, so they're working hard to get them in all shapes and sizes and on all carriers world-wide. Give 'em until the end of 2010.

Also, all different carriers too. All fronts in all directions. I give it, and you can quote me on this, until late June and the iPhone will be hurting BAD!

Not too mention..the masses don't have tmobile. In fact, I only know one person that does.

Consider this a test phone for something bigger.
