Does Verizon check what phone you send in to their warranty?

My brother has broken his phone too many times and Verizon is refusing to replace it. Can I send it in saying its mine and get a replacement for him? Or will they notice and refuse to ship a new one?

There is a serial number on the inside. Unless u are very mechanically inclined and can swap out the broken screen or board id tell your brother to buy a used one on ebay
