Does anyone know if gingerbread will be able to take advantage of front camera?

I read that gingerbread ota arrives around early June (read:googled everyday for gingerbread update) and I wonder if the update will include integrated use of the front facing camera for calls to other phones on different networks, say Android on Verizon to iPhone on AT&T. Thoughts?

Delivered by Lighting, trembling with Thunder.

no it won't. It's not the phone that does it, it's the programs that do video calling. As such you'd need to get apple to open up the api of their facetime app and then either write your own video calling app to interface with that or wait for google talk or skype or fring or whoever to update their apps to interface with it.
