Do you use Google Talk on your droid?

The lack of ability to see when someone is typing a message makes it useless for me...especially for long periods of time.

If they are typing you a message you will know it when you get it... you can't see this on a txt message... unless your talking about using MSN on your pc... but this is a phone forum and not a pc one... so I'm assuming your talking about an app that does show you who is typing a message on your phone... if so I would like to know what it is.

I am fully aware of the difference between a chat and a text. It is google chat (or talk) not google text.

Blackberry chat allows you to see when someone is typing a message, which, at last check, was a phone also, not a PC.

Go back to blueberries then..... :)

Sure you can't see if someones typing a message, or if they've read your message/you've read their message (which is a blessing sometimes) but it's still faster than a text most time.
The avatars are a + as well.

Does Gtalk always force close on any of your phones?
It does on my Dream all the time.

I'll get a message, drop down the notification bar to click on it.. click and bam force close.

Luckily if I drop the bar down again I can still see the latest message and usually go right to it. Only problem is the whole convo is gone

I use GTalk everyday on my phone and never had a problem with it. Had it on my G1 and now on the droid, not a single GTalk FC yet.

I think you would like it once you started to use it...:motdroidvert:

Does anyone know how to receive an audible notification that a new message has arrived while in a chat? If you're on a different screen then the current chat you will get a notification but not on the chat screen. This would help since you now have to be looking at the screen the whole time to see when a reply has come in.

I'm really surprised more people don't use Google Talk. Everyone I know is stuck on either AIM or MSN messenger, still. But I guess chat technology takes a while to switch. I remember when EVERYONE used Powwow or ICQ. I just love Google Talk's simple interface; no big flashing adds or stupid animated messages!

I think everyone who has a smart phone that's capable of gtalk should have it. Its how I talk to my girl who has a berry. And friends oversas

PS: it surprises me to no end that Gtalk isn't an instant messaging option on these forums!

So using Google Talk does not count as a text message? On my old phone through Verizon they did so i just always assumed they did still. Of course I didn't have a data plan on that phone so maybe that is the explanation.
