I use launcher pro on Droid stock. works great.

I use Launcher Pro with Beautiful Widgets. Once in a while, the time and weather stop updating. I just restart LauncherPro (Menu/Preferences/Restart LauncherPro) and all is well.

If I'm not mistaken (and I could be) there have been some problems with Live Wallpaper working well with LauncherPro. But I suspect the problems are not incompatibility but simply demands of each on memory when combined with a large number of other running apps. That would explain why some people have experienced problems and others have not.
