Disabling Auto-Subscription to threads?

Is there a way to make it so if I post in a thread it will not subscribe me automatically?

in control panel under options you can opt out to get email notifications

Go to "User CP," select "Edit Options" under "Settings & Options." You can change the default thread subscription mode there. On a thread by thread basis you can change it under "thread tools" while viewing a thread.
