Hello all. New member first post. I have a bone stock DINC and the screen has stopped working after some light beer...uh...water damage. The phone seems to charge normally, it turns on with a vibrate and a droooid, and I can hear message notifications after start-up. I can adjust volume and hear the response...just no screen. I have a blackberry for work, so this is just a spare. I am more than willing to take drastic measures to get it reset. Should i try something first before buying a new screen? I tried volume - power, then volume - x4 then power, volume + then power...doesn't seem to restart the phone. I never get a vibrate and droooid after I do those steps. Any other way to hard reset without a screen?

Try putting it in a bag of white rice for a night.

Battery out of the device of coarse.

it can take a day or 2 to resolve itself.

Good luck

Happens all the time--cameras,, cell phones, etc. The rice solution is traditional, but silica gel will work better. Or just open it up, pull the battery and card, blot up any moisture and let it bake a day or two in a sunny window. Odds are the "water" will evaporate and your Droid will work again. Good luck!

okay here is what I have so far.

-pulled battery
-volume (-) hold and press power
-continue to hold volume (-)
-release volume (-)
-volume (-) 4 times
-press power
-phone vibrates
-volume (+)
-press power
-phone gives two short vibrates
-several minutes pass
-phone says "droooid"
-still no screen

Is it time for a new screen?
How do I tell if i need SLCD or AMOLED?

thanks in advance!

It is possible you already fried the circuits in your phone. Whenever there is water damage, the very first thing to do is remove the battery. It is not the water that ruins the phone per se, but the power and water combination that short circuits the phone. Second thing to do is dry the phone completely with rice, silica, air and make sure it is 100% dry b4 you introduce the battery, power or any activity. If that is done, usually the phone is save-able.

already tried all that. the phone is as dry as it's gonna get. I am looking for ways to try and reset/reflash the phone to bone stock just to see if that does anything before I commit to purchasing a new screen. the phone charges, powers up, and seems to run fine...just no screen.

okay so how can I flash a stock ROM to this thing with no screen? Just want to try a complete and total reset before I drop $$$ on a replacement SCLD. I have 6300VW3 so I am sure that is the SLCD.

Any help on methods or software to work on the phone without a screen would be great. No longer looking for how to dry out a phone. None of those ideas worked for me.

Thanks

so i was able to complete a factory reset without the screen. I am actually able to dial the phone and get connected, however...still no screen. I have the VW3 which is the SCLD, but I can't find one for sale anywhere. Are there any other things I should try with this SCLD?
