Data usage goes up even when i dont use internet

I might go days without using internet on my phone but i notice my data usage goes up daily (it might only be like going from .014gb to .016 etc). I dont have any of the weather widgets or anything, ive checked all my running apps and dont have any that wasnt on their other then when i activated my phone. Ive called Verizon and they say this is normal, to me this seems like im not getting all im paying for. Is this normal for the usage to go up.

Yes. If you don't want to use data all the time you'll have to disable background data or disable data altogether when your not using it. That takes a lot away from the phone though. The phone syncs a lot of stuff in the background unless you tell it not to.

What will be different on my phone if i disable background data? Do i do this in the privacy setting? I assume where is says back up my settings is disabling this??
