This has been frustrating me for some time. My batter life indicator (and any App I have run in parallel with it) always shows my battery life worse than it is.

Ex. Wake up @ 6:30 a.m. phone at 100%. By noon, with a total of about 40 minutes use time (no calls), my indicator will show 40%. Turn phone off, will come back to 80%...get another 60 minutes use until it hits 30%... if I turn it off again, it usually comes back to around 50% for another 30 mintues of use.

I run my screen at like 25-30% brightness. I turn off WiFi and GPS when not at home or on the road. (if I didn't know better I'd say Angry Birds is the culprit ;) )

I know the D1 :blackdroid: came with a notroiously undersized battery, but can't I at least get it to read correctly.

And can someone verify if there are certain apps that will kill the battery faster than others. (Outside of Facebook and Twitter-because I had this problem a long time after I had those Apps on my phone)

This battery thing is the only thing that has ever bugged me about my phone.
(I swear its like dating a hot chick who is athletic, smart, funny, loves Android, but never laughs and says "That's Funny" - it actually bugs you after a while)

You could try clearing the battery stats and cycle the battery once or twice.

I will give it a try...and how do I do that...if there is a link to instructions, that would be great, so you don't have to post a whole diatribe.

Do I have to do this w/in the phone, or be tethered to the desk top and unmount the SD card?

Mine does this too. It seems to do it more often when I'm using a widget that monitors battery life. Generally for me, it would solve itself by plugging it in to a power source for 2-3 minutes.

This is a bit different than what you are asking, but I found a thread you might want to read. I am not a phone tech wizard and am not rooted. The difference is that my battery life was so bad or so it said, I bought an extended one. They talk about a simple widget that might be worth checking out. I know you are using a stock battery, but it's still about accurate battery life... so check it out and I hope it helps a bit! http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-2-global/120662-gorilla-gadgets-3500mah-extended-battery-6.html

FWIW, turning off GPS doesn't do anything unless you leave a program running that uses GPS. The GPS isn't "on" until you open a program that uses it.

I have noticed that neither the WiFi nor the GPS seem to affect batter life.

I went for a 21 mile bike ride today and used My Tracks to record the route. I also used DoubleTwist the whole time for music... and after 90 minutes the battery showed 40%. On a hunch I cycled the phone power.... went back to 80%.... at least I know that the Battery can last...

yeah, how do you clear battery stats?

Go into your recovery and find the "Wipe" options, you'll see something like "Wipe Battery Stats" or "Clear Battery Stats," something like that.

News and weather widgets will kill your battery very fast as they are constantly looking for updated information.
