Current status of grandfathering

hey guys i plan on upgrading my D1 to Bionic when it comes out


will i still be able to keep my unlimited data or will i be forced to get a new contract with tiered?

As long as you are still in contract with unlimited and you upgrade through corporate Verizon (website/retail) you will be grandfathered.

I've heard its not the same at some "authorized retailers" however.

Hmm I called up Verizon Wireless and went back and forth with the sales associate saying that I could be grandfathered in but she said I had to get tiered data.

I wanted to punch her in the face.

the sales associate you spoke with was misinformed. As Guidot said, you should be grandfathered into an unlimited data plan.

I got my daughter the D3 and my family plan hadn't changed. I got the D3 for $149.99 which is an awesome deal especially since exceptions were made to upgrade from a non-smart phone to a Droid even when we weren't due for that upgrade till July 2012. Now that's a deal I couldn't pass up!

What ever you do get your plan in WRITING. Should VZW change and stop that practice you can IMMEDIATELY break contract because you have a piece of paper that states the terms. A contract can't be changed that is why it's called a contract after all.
