Current status of D3 for rooting?

Hey all,

Thinking about trading up to a Droid 3. What's the current status as far as unlocking the bootloader and making new ROMs? I just got into ROMs for my OG Droid and I can definitely see the advantage to rooting.

Also, why no D3-specific forum on droidforums?

Try google....quick search will reveal there is no root. But Google is where I always find out the quickest.

Right, I did google before I posted and saw that it has a locked bootloader. Does that mean rooting is hopeless? I thought some other phone had a locked bootloader but someone came up with a work-around.

No....not hopeless....the DX has a locked boot loader and look what all that has. X2 locked as well....root and ROM are on the roll. Difference between X2 and D3 is the X2 WAS shipping with 2.2.2 on it which was still rootable....the D3 ships with 2.3.4 which is not....yet

Cool guess I'll just stay tuned and see how it plays out!
