Amazon must have gotten into the holiday egg nog a bit early this year. They started their Black Friday deal for mobile phones a week early and the deals for new customers are pretty ridiculous. They have discounted ALL Verizon, Sprint and AT&T phones down to only a penny, if you purchase the phone with a new two-year agreement. Yes, that includes some of the brand new powerhouse phones like the Motorola Droid RAZR, the HTC Rezound, the Samsung Galaxy SII, the Droid Bionic, and even the brand new Galaxy S II Skyrocket, to name just a few. They have a total of 97 phones included in this super-sale.

Furthermore, if that doesn't seem enticing enough... they even are combining it with their $100 Amazon Gift Card promo where you activate a mobile hotspot agreement at the same time and receive the aforementioned gift card.

MAJOR PROPS for Amazons customer service!! Saturday I ordered the Rezound for my girlfriend at the then current price of $199. 2 minutes on the phone this morning and they've refunded the price difference (called it a price match)!! Can't beat that price or that service. Much better than waiting at the VZW or BB stores and haggling with the manager.

Oh and for those that haven't used them service speed is GREAT!! Ordered it Saturday afternoon and it's on the UPS truck now and 'out for delivery' of course YMMV depending on locale. I would suggest you look at it though especially if the local stores won't give you the deal you want.

Does adding a line count? Damn, but then my unlimited data plan is out the window unless I just pay for the second line an keep it as a emergency line.

Yes adding a line counts, that's what I did for my girlfriends. As to the unlimited no deal but you do get the double data promo going on now (so 4G for $30/mth).

Swap account

I'm curious as well Heywood.
I have a family account, my line is out of 2 year, and due update. Thought about adding a line, swapping my number on to the new line, then, well drop the other line? Just saying that sounds cheezey. :frown:
I would much rather find another OG Droid, than anything else, but that hasn't worked out. My power button has all but stopped working.
It won't be long before it stops all together.

^^^THIS! Can anyone confirm that this is easy to do with the [many clueless] Verizon customer service reps? It may sound cheesy, but if they would provide this option to those OUT of contract we wouldn't have to waste everyone's time to get what we want! I might have to look into Amazon's return policy as well, as I consider this a rental phone until the GNex shows up on shelves - I just want to get in on that DoubleData deal!!!

Yes you can swap numbers, did it on my wife's upgrade last month. bought the new phone and swapped numbers than use the other as a backup. It's a small hassle but worth it.

can you not cancel the original account with the "new" number at that point? I don't want to keep another line for no reason. Thanks for the input - it's great to hear from others that have traveled this road.

You can but you'll be hit for the ETF. when you get the upgrade you renew your contract for that line, so even if you swap phones you still have 24 months on that line. At only $10 a month it's cheaper to pay for the line than the $300+ ETF (which ironically goes down $10/mth).

Okay this is confusing me...obviously I'm easily confused..lol

So I buy the RAZR and add another line to my family plan but at the bare minimum/bottom tier (whatever that may be I am not sure but we do already have one line on a no data plan because its not a smartphone). Then I swap the cheap phone to the new line and put the new RAZR on ....ack see....confusion

I dont think amazon will allow you to swap the new line yuo get for a a razor with a no data phone. Wont they charge you the $250 for changing the plan within 180 days. In other words, they want you to have a data plan with the razor :icon_eek:

I would get a data plan just the very bottom tier but I don't recall what that is. Then swap the RAZR with onto one of my unlimited lines and put the cheap phone on the new RAZR new line.
