contacts keep linking

so my wife's droid keeps linking her contacts that are similar in name ie dan and danny and any ones that have the same name any idea why and how to stop this?

is this the same problem... ?

My brothers Eris deleted a contact. Then later it reappeared. And then one time when he tried to call his wife, he called that contact that had been previously deleted (but the call log said he called his wife and showed her picture)

he says he's been having weird problems since he got 2.1

can anyone relate to this?
