Contacts issue

Entered Rob and his number into contacts. Entered Robert into contacts. Rob called me and Roberts name popped up. Turns out both numbers consolidated under Robert. I deleted the contact and reentered both but again contacts list Robert with 2 mobile numbers? What's the fix?

Both have different last names? Did you put a last name in? Are you sure auto complete did not turn Rob into Robert and you missed it? Need more information on this since I have no idea who Rob or Robert are

I've found using the contacts editor in gmail tends to be easier when it comes to this sort of thing.

Also things like adding birthdays, consolidating with email etc.
