Changing Gmail account on Eris

I know you have to reset the phone back to factory to set up a different gmail account but am worried about apps that I have bought. Is there a way I can update my android market info so I can still update?

bra, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RESET YOUR PHONE TO SET UP NEW GMAIL ACCOUNTS! Right now I have all 4 of my GMAIL accounts on my phone, so that when I open the GMAIL icon in my apps all 4 are listed n I just tap the one I want to check.

Alls u do is go in your gmail, MENU/ ACCOUNTS LIST/ ADD NEW ACCOUNT.

I think other people would like to know what it takes to change the "default" account that contains all of the contacts for your phone. I believe that it would be necessary to hard reset the phone in order to setup a different gmail account as default. Is this correct? Does a full reset erase all apps and downloads?

Thanks

to reset the default there is an easier way. its what i did since i was not activated on a network. If you are then great otherwise make sure you have wifi. All you need to do is go into SETTINGS>APPLICATIONS>MANAGE APPLICATIONS and find GMAIL. You then hit the CLEAR DATA button and it will wipe it, allowing you to put in a new default. Worked for me at least. (if needed do this to all google applications in the MANAGE APPLICATIONS area.)

idk if this will help, but if you download Astro file manager and open it, you can hit menu, tools, backup and application manager and back up all of your apps to the SD card. you cant run them from it, it isnt apps2sd, but you can uninstall them and install them from the backups on the SD card, i use this to free up space on my phone and i just swtch out apps when i need to. also comes in handy when you update an app and it messes it up you can just download the older backup version.

Apps are tied to the Gmail account they were purchased under. If you change accounts you will lose paid apps from the first account.
