case or no case?

When it comes to cases you can find people on both sides of the aisle as far as whether it is better to protect the device with a case or to go with out a case.

One of my favorite youtube tech videos are made by MKHB and he posted a video preferring to go naked (referring to the phone)

and here are some drop tests with cases and skins.

So do you protect with a case, screen protector, skin, or do you go naked (referring to the phone)?

I' a screen protector and case guy. Mostly due to paying full retail for my phones. The better the condition the more I get for them when it's time to trade up.

Case only for me. A sometimes unattractive case which provides the best "gripability" is what I go for. :)

Or... you can exercise the same care with your 700 dollar phone as you do a 99 cent Burger King Cheeseburger and don't drop it on the floor. : )

I use Aduro style holsters on my phones. They offer only minimal drop protection but they do allow me to wear the phone on my belt, provide good grip, and they have a handy kickstand that I use often.

I had to laugh at that as I am walking out the gym. I kung fu grip my cheeseburgers but even then the pickles and the sauce spill out. :p

I am a case and screen protector guy as well. No matter how careful I am with my phone I have managed to drop it once face down. It's like the phone jumped out of my hand but at most I'll have a scratch on the case or the screen protector which only cost pennies to replace in comparison. But I think another factor that goes unsaid is your work environment. If you are an office guy I can see being able to go just with a skin. But if you work outside and/or around chemicals and grime a case and a screen protector not only protects but keep the device clean.

Both for me as well. I'm in the field a lot at work, so dirt would scratch the screen without a protector. I also hike, ski & mountain bike with it, so the added protection is needed.

Even with all that activity, I prefer a minimal case. Something like the otter box offers great protection, but I prefer to use a phone, not a cereal box.

Tech 21 cases are the best I did a video review for the Galaxy S5 I did a drop test a few times and the phone was perfect with no sign of damage whatsoever afterwards, since then my wife has dropped the phone about 10 times and there has never been any damage to the phone whatsoever. The cases use an orange goo substance. The demo is what sold me the CEO of the company wraps his finger in the orange goo and proceeds to hammer his finger with a sledge hammer. He swings pretty hard. The impact resistance you get from the orange goo seems to be pretty legit though.

Screen protector only. I don't like the added bulk that cases add and I like the look of the phone naked. Phones are now getting too big to fit in pockets without cases.

When I move from my gnex to a moto x I'm going to get a glass screen protector as I love the feel of glass. I'm running a nice plastic screen protector on my gnex now but it still isn't quite glass.

Screen protector. That's all. Nothing else.

The only two phones that suffered broken screens didn't have a screen protectors.
